Sweet. Salty. Craveably crunchy. These aromatic oven-roasted nuts—coated in mineral-rich maple syrup and peppered with Japanese furikake—are perfect for sprinkling atop a (Sakara) salad or savoring by the handful as a protein-packed, fiber-full snack.

Pro-tip: Add a handful to a mason jar and voilà! Your next hostess gift.

INGREDIENTS

3 cups of raw unsalted mixed nuts (like almonds, macadamia nuts, cashews, pecans, peanuts, and/or hazelnuts)

1/2 cup mixed seeds (recommended: 4 tablespoons pumpkin seeds, 2 tablespoons hemp seeds, 2 tablespoons flax seeds)

1/4 cup very dark maple syrup

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon pink Himalayan sea salt

2 pinches crushed red pepper flakes

4 tablespoons furikake (substitute: sheets of toasted nori crushed into a powder)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. Add all ingredients except the furikake to a large bowl and stir to combine.
  3. Pour onto the sheet pan and bake for about 20 minutes, until golden and sticky. Gently toss a few times while baking.
  4. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the furikake. Toss to combine and let cool. Enjoy!
