High-quality ingredients to fortify your body, improve your mood, and nourish your soul.
There’s no end to the delicious ways to enjoy these nutrient-dense powerhouses commonly known as “superfoods”, beloved for full-body benefits from supporting a thriving immune system to boosting energy abundance and glowing skin.
We craft each of our meals with functional foods rich in superfoods. Dive into the science and spirit of some of our most-loved sources of nutrients, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals, and more.
Beets: Beets are a vibrant root that carry the amino acid betaine, a nutrient that detoxifies, stimulates the liver, and helps us better absorb B12—an essential nutrient for the nervous system and immunity. Beets are known to expand blood vessels and increase blood flow, boost brain function, and improve athletic endurance.
Where to find them: Our Beet Pancakes with Pistachio Butter and Red Beet Burger with Poppy Seed Vinaigrette.
Blue Spirulina: Blue spirulina is one of the oldest and most nutrient dense foods on the planet. The detoxifying blue-green algae reduces inflammation, removes heavy metals from the body, protects cells against free-radical damage, and supports the body's natural stress response. It’s also a potent source of plant-based protein.

Cacao: The antioxidant-rich seeds from which chocolate is made, cacao is packed with flavonoids which protect the body from aging and disease. Cacao also contains theobromine, a compound that stimulates blood flow to the brain and enhances energy and cognition. Raw cacao beans are brimming with essential minerals such as magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium, and manganese. (This is what gives our best-selling Metabolism Super Powder its chocolatey, delicious taste.)
Where to find it: Our Cacao Power Breakfast Bar, Chia Pumpkin Bread with Cacao Creme, and Chocolate Love Muffin with Superfood Caramel.
Chlorophyll: Harness the healing power of greens with this green-pigmented natural compound which enables plants to turn sunlight into energy through photosynthesis. Chlorophyll helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, clear cellular waste and oxygenate body tissues. By consuming pure liquid chlorophyll, we amplify the oxygen supply to body tissues and clear away impurities. The beauty of eating foods with chlorophyll is the added benefit of the gut-loving fiber that’s often also therein—plus a host of plant-food-only phytonutrients.
Where to find it: Our Mint Chocolate Morning Parfait, Mama Earth Bowl with Detox Dressing, and Watermelon Rose Salad with Detox Toast + Strawberry "Chevre.”
Flaxseed: Flax is made up of lignans, a plant compound shown to help reduce bloat, support estrogen regulation, and balance hormones that keep acne at bay.
Where to find it: Our Pumpkin Pie Parfait with Maple Cinnamon Granola and Harissa Falafel with Ruby Hummus.
Goji Berries: Goji berries are one of the most nutrient-rich foods on the planet—trusted for centuries as a youth and well-being booster within Asian herbal medicine traditions. They’re full of antioxidants and amino acids that contain an abundance of vitamins A and C (for radiant and smooth, even skin), plus fiber to help control blood sugar.

Leafy Greens
Our nutrition approach is grounded in delivering at least four to six cups of organic, high-quality greens to Sakaralites each day. Scientific research demonstrates that the daily inclusion of greens in the diet can encourage the growth of good bacteria, heal inflammation, improve motility, crowd out parasites, eliminate yeast, get rid of belly fat, dissolve gallstones, balance your pH, quiet down your irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), prevent diverticulosis, cut your risk of colon cancer in half, boost your energy, lose weight, banish your bloat, and really glow from the inside out. (And the list goes on and on.)
Where to find them: Our Classic Chopped Salad, and Serenity Bowl, and more.
Maca: Its adaptogenic properties help to lower cortisol levels, naturally relieving the body of stress. The alkaloids in maca also affect the endocrine systems (thyroids, adrenals, and glandular system), helping to balance hormones and increase female libido. Maca ranges in a variety of earthy colors, and can be added as a sprinkle into smoothies.
Where to find it: Our Strawberry Maca Shortcake and Blueberry Earth Cake with Peach "Buttercream"
Mesquite Powder: This sweet powder has high levels of iron and zinc, both promoters of healthy blood and arousal. (Which is why we love it in our Slow Burn Brownies recipe.) Mesquite also contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and improve cognitive health, and protein, which stimulates healthy muscle growth. Its natural sweetness also makes it a healthful baking substitute for sugar, or a go-to granola or smoothie sprinkle.
Where to find it: Our Banana Pudding Parfait and Classic Cobb Salad with Coconut Ranch
Turmeric: You might know turmeric as an earthy, slightly bitter essential of your feel-good spice repertoire— one that adds vibrancy and vitality to every plate. The one you see on shelves—and ultimately on your Sakara plates—is made up of ground roots of the plant, and both its famous golden tint and healing powers can be credited to the active ingredient, curcumin. (Curcumin helps soothe chronic pain and system-wide inflammation, as well as boost levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, or BDNF—a hormone in the brain that supports healthy cognition and a sharper, brighter memory.) You can find more of our essential (and favorite) spices here.
Where to find it: Our Indian Spiced Samosas with Sweet + Spicy Chutney, Roasted Peach Chana Masala Sauce and Root Veggie Enchilada.
