Feeling bloated and unsettled after meals doesn't need to be the norm. For years, we've been brewing up mugs of Digestive Tea after heartier meals because the blend of functional herbs is designed to stimulate the GI tract and detox pathways.

Included in each sachet is gentian, a bitter herb often found in vermouth cocktails, which helps to activate the liver and produce gastric juices to reduce bloat. Then, meadowsweet offers mucilaginous properties that help to soothe and hydrate body tissues—great for digestion and helping waste move through seamlessly. Peppermint, which you'll taste most prominently, provides antispasmodic properties to quell bloat and digestion woes. With a final flourish of anti-inflammatory turmeric, this tea is amazing to have in the pantry in an upset-stomach pinch.

Transforming this simple sachet into a high tea ritual, we decided to embellish the flavor notes with a few fresh sprigs of mint, a squeeze of lemon, and a dollop of Manuka honey, which works as an antimicrobial and super hydrator for internal body tissues. The result is a subtly sweet, refreshing post-meal digestif that feels fancy, but is as straightforward as ever. Enjoy after a multi-course brunch, languid dinner, or as a swap for dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 8-12 hot water, spring or alkaline
  • 1 sachet Sakara Digestive Tea
  • 1/2 teaspoon Manuka honey
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 2-3 sprigs fresh mint

Directions:

Place the sachet of Digestive Tea in a mug and pour hot water in. Add the Manuka honey, allowing time to melt, then top with fresh mint and a squeeze of lemon. Sip mindfully.
